Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Renewable Diesel (RD) are produced through the Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) process is derived from waste oils, fats, and greases, such as used cooking oil and animal fats. In this process, the feedstocks are hydroprocessed with hydrogen at high temperatures and pressures to remove oxygen and impurities, resulting in hydrocarbons that closely resemble conventional jet fuel.

The fuel produced meets stringent aviation standards and is blended with fossil-based jet fuel in ratios of up to 50% to ensure compatibility with existing aircraft engines and fueling infrastructure. This blending allows SAF to be used seamlessly without modifications, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle compared to traditional jet fuel, making it a critical solution for decarbonizing the aviation sector.
